Home away from home

I absolutely love this hotel. This was my second time staying here and definitely won't be my last. The ambiance, the hospitality, customer service, and food were all top notch. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it offers a beautiful and safe introduction to one of my favorite islands, Haiti.

Quiet oasis

We stayed here on our first night arriving in Port-au-Prince. After a little bit of a stressful drive in PAP traffic, we found our way up the hill to the oasis that is the Montana. A gorgeous, peaceful property (and kudos - completely rebuilt after the 2010 earthquake), we enjoyed our stay here. Quiet, comfortable room with garden view, wonderful bar/ restaurant with great views (we ate here on another night we were back in PAP later in the trip too) - don't miss the rhum sours - and an excellent buffet breakfast (don't miss the traditional Sunday Soupe Joumou !). Staff is friendly and helpful too. This was the only place we stayed in our 12 days in Haiti where we had both hot water and continuous electricity (though the wifi dropped in and out intermittently which seems to be par for the course). Would definitely stay here again at the end of a trip to relax a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of PAP/ Pétion-Ville.

Posh Retreat

A sublime location atop the hill affording excellent views and fresh breezes. And even though my Haitian friends say not as grandiose since being rebuilt, quite elegant grounds.

Beautiful pool and terrace for drinks or a meal.

The rooms are fine if nothing overwhelming.

But if you want to stay somewhere for an escape from the chaos below - at a price - this is a nice spot. (Note traffic getting up here can be brutal...but pat for the course in PAP.)

Excellent Rhum Sours as well. ;-)

A beautiful place...

Since the big earthquake, I probably stayed 10 times in the Hotel Montana. It is a place with a spectacular view, beautiful fauna, nostalgic architecture and tasteful decoration (I really like their Art Deco lamps and intelligent placement of impressive mirrors). It is a place one must have seen; it is like a reserve for white expats. The only thing that annoys me is their sometimes-limited culinary offer. On some days there is a reduced choice of “food prepared on demand” because of a buffet, of which I am, unfortunately, not very fond of.
